Watchout: Video Mapping, Dior
Video mapping project at the Grand Palais de Paris, using Dataton Watchout.
As part of the 'Art du Jardin' salon in the nef of the Grand Palais in Paris, Dior installed a large-scale replica of the childhood home of Christian Dior. The 15x12 metre printed facade was used as a screen for projection mapping of video animations supplied by the client.
The Grand Palais is notable for its glass roof which measures 13500 m2. To compensate for the natural light, even after sunset, two stacks of three 20k projectors were installed on either side of the house. After alignment of the projectors in each stack, Watchout was used for geometry correction of the two superimposed displays to map the animations onto the printed surface.
