Motion design for a projection mapped conference stage design

Motion design and media server programming for a projection mapped stage design.

The stage design for the 2019 'Prisme' conference included a 2.4m high pyramid, placed just in front of the stage backdrop. The creative brief was for motion graphic design which would both emphasise the 3D nature of the pyramid with video mapping during transitions, but also - despite the size of the structure - be visually unobtrusive during presentations. To achieve this the prism was rendered as semi-transparent glass, with objects appearing to float inside, lighting effects across the surfaces and, when required, showing only the stage backdrop to become almost invisible.

Motion graphics were created with After Effects & Element3D, UV maps were prepared in Blender, and media playback and video projection mapping were managed with Watchout. The conference opener shown here includes previz images generated in Disguise.
